Important information regarding the shipping of chocolate products
It's great that we're past the cold winter months and moving into longer nights and warmer days. As much as we enjoy this time of year, it does make shipping chocolate items more challenging. There is an increased risk that products containing chocolate will be damaged by heat during transit. In previous years we have simply opted to not ship these items during the Spring and Summer months. However, we were constantly having requests from customers that they must have their products and that we should ship anyway. So we have decided to continue shipping chocolate to our customers as long as they are willing to "take the chance".
We ship a lot of chocolate to customers during the warmer months. The vast majority arrive perfectly intact and without damage. However, we cannot control the temperature of carrier warehouses and trucks during transit. We cannot control where the carrier leaves your package either. So there is a small risk that some shipments will unfortunately be damaged.
We will continue to offer these items for sale on our website. However please understand that we cannot accept responsibility should your chocolate melt during shipping. We are giving you the choice to place orders with this risk in mind. The British Food Depot will not accept returns, issue refunds or store credits for any chocolate damaged by heat. It is solely the customer’s choice whether to order these items or not.

Standard shipping times (for orders not containing frozen meat products):
The map below shows shipping times (in business days) from our warehouse in PA. These are the transit times when you choose to ship via the standard Fedex Ground shipping option during checkout. We offer Express shipping options also if you need your package delivered sooner.
We ship the majority of orders the following business day after you make your purchase online. However now that we are in the busy holiday period our warehouse can get quite busy, please allow us 2-4 business days to process and ship your order. If you need your order by a specific date please tell us in the ''comments'' section during checkout and we will do our best to meet your needs.
As soon as your order ships, we will email you a notification containing tracking information so you can locate your package during transit.
Shipping information for order’s containing perishable meat products:
All orders containing frozen meat products will arrive at your location within 2 days of dispatch from our warehouse. Your order will be shipped in a protective styrofoam cooler containing ice to ensure your product arrives in excellent condition.
We ship frozen products Monday-Wednesday. This is to ensure your order does not sit in a FedEx facility over the weekend and spoil. We may ship frozen products on a Thursday if you live within the 1 day shipping radius of our warehouse or you choose "Next Day" delivery. Please allow 24 hours for us to process your order and ship. For example; orders placed on Tuesday afternoon will ship on Wednesday for delivery on Friday when using the "2 Day" shipping option.
Express Shipping costs can be expensive for frozen meat products, please consider the quantity of product in your order. Often shipping 10lbs of frozen items is only going to cost a little more than shipping 1lb of product. So the more you order, the more you save on shipping. Our products can be stored in your freezer for up to 6 months.
Orders within the Continental US will ship via USPS or FedEx from our facility in Pennsylvania.
Shipping cost is calculated during checkout and is based on the total weight of your order and your shipping location.
At this time we are unable to offer delivery to APO/FPO addresses. Shipments to Alaska and Hawaii may incur additional fees. We will contact you should there be any additional cost.
Shipping is currently only available to U.S customers.
Returns & Exchanges:
We will be happy to arrange for a return of a product that you are not satisfied with, if that product is still in its original packaging. We cannot accept returns of opened or partially consumed items. Please email us for a return shipping number prior to returning any items. Due to the perishable nature of many of our products we can accept returns or exchanges only if you contact us within 10 days of receipt of your order. Crisps cannot be returned to us due to the short shelf life these products have. It is the customer’s responsibility to pay shipping costs and to ensure items are returned in a safe manner.
